I have a Savage Model 11 Youth in 243 Win. 20" barrel, youth sized LOP.... don't remember exactly what it is but can measure if you like. Probably like finding hen's teeth if you're shopping in the market place. I ordered it straight from the factory. Their web page says also chambered for 308.
Thanks for the replies. I mean the action specifically. I've got a light carbine with the Savage action. They do have a lightened version of that as well, but it's the same size overall as their regular actions. I'm thinking more something like the Remington Model Seven but available with the bolt on the correct side.
The Forbes rifles made with the NULA action are available in the rifle at $1500. Well, they're supposed to be available.
Those are neat. CZ is currently producing mini-mauser rifles with bolt handles on the left. The cartridges that fit have much less capacity than .308 based ones.
I had a Zastava LH mini-Mauser in .223. The rear bridge did not support the bolt properly, which caused feeding problems a great majority of the time. Because the bolt wasn't able to remain parallel, it would ride over the cartridge in the magazine. Sometimes pushing the cartridge forward & jamming the action.
I now have a CZ527 lefty in .223, a far superior action in my experience. No big difference in size or weight either, though I haven't done a close exam. No need to test that IMHO, the reliability issue is paramount to minor size/weight concerns.
I just bought a Browning 'Micro-Midas' LH in 243, for a niece. They may make them in 308 and 7mm-08 too. Either way they can be hard to find. Gun broker and others may show one or two.
Yes, but is the action on the micro midas smaller than the usual Browning short action? I know they made a micro or super short action for the WSSMs for a while, but those won't hold a .308.
The answers you got are absolutely correct. NULA 20, then the CZ 527 223 LH. It can be altered to shoot 308. The one that was missed was the Cooper, which can be had in single shot or repeater.
If the sources I found are correct, the Cooper 54 is a little longer than even the Remington 700 short action.
